A bright light shines

Meet the Monfest team

Brief interviews with the people making the magic happen

We do the work of hosting and amplifying rural artists because we basking in others' glow is just as special as the moments when we shine brightly individually.

Today's newsletter features an interview with our Talent & Sponsorship Director, Kub Stevens.

Which reminds me - if you are interested in sponsoring MONfest, or know of others who might be, please send them our way! Or tap in with the button below. We've got opportunities for every size business and your brand could access our ecosystem where we reach over 22,000 views via our socials!

As always, the typist behind these newsletters and interviews is Storytelling & Operations Director KCF. We hope that you enjoy these get to know you questions and images brought to you by the core team movers and shakers who make the festival possible, year after year.

Kub, tell us about what you do for monfest?

I help set the stage for our music lineup to capture hearts and minds. I also tell the Middle of NOWhere story to anyone who will listen!

what is your favorite part about being involved with the festival?

I love bringing artists that I admire and really value to what feels like my backyard in Boone County.

Selfishly I love showing people how folks are living out here.

We've been griding to live out the monfest mission statement and values. I'm interested in learning about how you live our Monfest values?

I would be not even a speck without community. Connecting with the folks in my life keeps me invigorated and excited for everything our days bring.

Fun is my addiction and building space for diversities of identities and experiences to thrive is the wind betwixt my sails.

When you're not organizing MONfest what kind of artistry are you doing?

I use music and sound to create rooms that I can travel time in. I value opportunities to pick apart the past with the lens of everything I have experienced and decided about our waking hours.

Why do you think gathering in community is so important right now?

It's so impossible to bring folks together in the ways that we require for basic life. We live in one of the most individualized places in the world; the idea of community is an expletive that is being stamped out by kidnappings and focused violence on our most vulnerable people.

Gathering to reflect on the truths of who we are and celebrate the fact that we are still here is an essential piece of surviving times like these in a place like Iowa.

We love sharing these interviews with our community. Thank you for being a part of the community that extends beyond our one day together at the festival.

We hope you've enjoyed getting to know our friend Kub.

Keep your light shining!

In rural we vibe,
